Grade 4
One of my greatest passions and challenges in life is instilling character and competence in children. I love that our Heavenly Father pours His love on each one of us and equips us to spur one another on. To fulfill my call to teach and disciple children, I earned a Bachelor of Education degree from UBC and a Master of Pastoral Ministry from Carey Theological College at UBC. I have worked both in educational and church ministry settings for more than 30 years. Before coming to Kelowna in 2016, I taught at Vancouver Christian School and worked part-time as Intergenerational Ministry Director at my church and as Director of Children and Family Ministry for the Canadian Baptists of Western Canada. I have been working in various capacities at KCS since 2017 and am thrilled to now be teaching Grade 4.
In my classroom I value a calm and co-productive learning space where we work together to help one another succeed in our own journey of learning. Our lessons and work times are filled with hands on inquiry and self-reflection. Students love starting the day exploring our “Activate’ corner filled with baskets of challenge activities, crafts, building sets and mindbenders. We carve out lots of time for reading both on our own and with each other. I value creating a “MeThird” ethos in the classroom and being able to teach with a Christ-centered and Biblical perspective, finding God in all that we are learning!
I enjoy hiking, biking, gardening, reading and just hanging out with family and friends. I am married to Dan and we have 3 married kids and one precious grandson. Since Dan is a master with the barbeque and I love growing veggies, you can often find us out on our back patio feasting with family, neighbours and friends from our church community.
