Grade 5
I was born in a small town in outback Australia, into a loving and rambunctious family of 4 boys. Dad & Mum raised us as a nominal Christian family but it wasn’t until my teens that I gave my heart to Jesus. That decision set me on the road to serving Him in some way, so soon after I graduated, I left to join Youth With a Mission in short term evangelism teams based out of Hong Kong. I met my wonderful wife there, and after our 2 children came along, God led us to settle in Canada in 1990.
My goal had been to become a teacher, and so my wife worked while I went to Okanagan College and completed my B.Ed. Teaching jobs were scarce at that time, and while contemplating a tenure in northern B.C., a friend told me about KCS, … and the rest is history! I started teaching in 2000 in the rough and tumble world of Gr.8, and then in 2008 switched to Gr.4 and have loved teaching this fun-loving age!
My Gr.4 classroom is full of interesting projects that are supplemented by strong academic expectations in Writing, challenging questions in Mathematics and fun activities in Science. We have weekly Spelling lists, bi-weekly Bible memory and energetic PE classes. We even have a pet snake that provides great stimulating feeding times!
I like to keep active through running/biking/swimming and any other sports I can try, and spend as much time outdoors as possible. I play the guitar and love to worship, and am so thankful for opportunities to do both. My wife and I love to spend time with our kids and their new families, and can’t wait for grandchildren.
