My name is Jen Rowland. I was born and raised in Kelowna and grew up attending Evangel Church with my family. From the time I was small I remember wanting to be a teacher. I used to set up a pretend classroom in my bedroom. As soon as I graduated from high school I started pursuing my education degree. I attended OUC and completed my degree at the University of Victoria. I was given the opportunity of completing a practicum at Kelowna Christian School in Mr. Rossi’s Grade 7 class. I had such a positive experience at the school, and with the students that I applied for a position as soon as I graduated.
I started teaching in 1998 at Kelowna Christian School. For ten years I taught Grades 1 & 2. I loved the years that I spent with those students and have been blessed to see many of them grow into young men and women who are serving God. For the past ten years, I have been a teacher on call at KCS, while staying home to raise my three kids. I am now returning in a part time capacity as a Grade 2 teacher.
My husband and I have three children, who are all attending KCS as well. Together we love visiting new places, camping, skiing, boating and spending time with our puppy, Chester!
I have a passion for Jesus and love sharing His truth with the student’s in my class. I consider it an incredible privilege to teach all subjects with God at the centre. In Grade 2 we will learn about numbers and the patterns found in nature and how they point to our Creator. As we study communities, we will discover our deep need of God and His love. Grade 2 is full of other exciting learning projects and hands on learning. As a part of our ongoing learning we will have weekly spelling lists, guided reading as well as math stations. We will also meet with our Grade 5 buddies once a week to show our learning and build community. Grade 2 is an exciting place to learn and grow!
