"I know I'm no glamour girl, and it's not easy for me to get up in front of a crowd of people. It used to bother me a lot, but now I've got it figured out that God gave me this talent to use, so I just stand there and sing." - Ella Fitzgerald

xMas Band2015We are always seeking to grow and expand our KCS Music Department. Our desire is to provide exciting opportunities for our students to experience music in new ways through festivals, trips, band clinics, recording opportunities and events. In fact, our students have travelled to Anaheim to perform on stage in Disneyland and also participated in a Soundtrack Session workshop with a Disney Conductor! Check out the worship songs composed and recorded by our High School Chapel Worship Teams below.

The KCS Music Department also coordinates two annual events for our community. We invite you to join us for the Middle & High School Christmas Concert and our Jazz & Java Café Fundraiser (CLICK HERE).

Not only does playing an instrument improve IQ and cognitive skills, the gift of music has the power to inspire and change the lives of our students. JUNIOR BAND (Gr. 8 & 9)

The Junior Band travelled to the Whistler Con Brio Festival and performed in the Junior Jazz category. They scored a Silver rating - nice job students! They also had a workshop with American Bandmasters Association member and Whistler Con Brio founder Douglas Macaulay. Their trip also included an evening gala concert featuring professional musicians and vocalists from the Canadian Navy Band, and they participated in a mass band on Sunday with 1500 other musicians from all over the US and Canada.

SENIOR JAZZ COMBO

Performed and was adjudicated at the 2016 Interior Jazz Festival. They scored a Silver rating!

SENIOR BAND

Performed and was adjudicated at the Interior Jazz Festival. They scored a Silver rating. In 2016, our Sr. Band and Sr. Worship Team members travelled to Anaheim to perform on stage in Disneyland. They also participated in a Soundtrack Session workshop with a Disney Conductor and do two outreach concerts at local L.A. schools!

The kids had an amazing experience playing on an awesome stage with top-quality equipment and sound setup/acoustics. Everything... down to the music, posture of chairs, etc. was top notch! This raised the ‘legit’ and ‘wow’ factors for the kids. Our students loved their Soundtrack Session too! Our conductor had 30 years of band experience and taught at Biola University - a Christian university with a great music program. He played trumpet and conducts for Disney. The kids had 60 seconds before each run through to learn 5 songs from Disney films. They recorded them and synced it with headphones to a click track and the film clip.
